Your mountain guides office in Chamonix offers you in wintertime: ski touring, the famous « Vallée Blanche » or the privilege of skiing Mont-Blanc.

For skiers/snowboarders mastering their turns on red and black runs. Beware, the Vallée Blanche is a high mountain itinerary which is not marked or groomed. The snow conditions can vary and make the descent more difficult sometimes (moguls, fresh snow…). A little experience in off-piste skiing is preferable.

A dream route:

Treat yourself to an unforgettable day: a 20km descent in the heart of the Mont-Blanc range and it's glaciers… The starting point of the adventure is the top of the Aiguille du Midi (3842m) that you will reach from Chamonix by cable-car; a world-famous place offering breathtaking views. From up there, after the impressive descent of the starting ridge (skis on one shoulder, everyone roped to the guide) several itineraries are possible depending on your level and on the snow conditions. All of them will offer you some amazing views on the prestigious summits of the range, and at each stop it's a new spectacular scenery where your eyes can get lost. Making your way between the red pinnacles and the blue domes of ice, you will reach the gentle slopes of the literal « sea of ice » (la Mer de glace). If the snow cover allows it, you will keep skiing down to the valley via the hut of the « Mottets » and its forest track, if not you will take the picturesque train of the Montenvers to return to Chamonix.
The Vallée Blanche is generally skiable between january and may. It takes 4 to 6 hours to make the descent.

our advise:

Always wear warm clothes, bring good sunglasses and a high protection sun screen.
Take a backpack with some water and a pic-nic that you will share having a break on the glacier (or maybe you'll prefer the famous cheese « croute » of the Requin hut!).
Don't forget your camera!
